Cognos Business Intelligence Report Writer (Temporary Position) – Cambridge, MA

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Report Writer for our Cambridge office. This individual will be responsible for developing mission-critical Cognos reports to support multiple customer groups, including project managers, department heads, and senior management. This individual understands Cambridge Systematics’ business intelligence environment, follows software development best practices, and produces accurate reports that supports the customers’ business needs.

Responsibilities include working with enterprise business intelligent project sponsors, core team members, IT, and business partners to define firm requirements for a prioritized master list of reports as part of phase 1 project; document and gain acceptance of written requirements; develop and test reports following clear and logical standards; offer advice and best practice recommendations to deliver high quality, meaningful, visually pleasing, efficient, and well performing reports utilizing IBM Cognos Business Intelligence 10.1.1 and v10.2; and extensively utilize skills with Report Studio and SQL to build reports and queries. This individual should work effectively in a “pre-packaged environment” where there is a solid understanding of pre-configured connections.

Requirements: Hands on, in depth experience and expertise with the Cognos 8/10 product suite in design, development, and implementation. Version 10 highly desired. Three to five years of experience implementing enterprise-scale reporting systems using COGNOS suite of BI tools. Ability to work autonomously and cooperatively within a fast-paced environment and balance priorities to best meet the demands of multiple projects. Must be comfortable being resident expert, demonstrate patience, and the ability to clearly explain solutions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Director, Human Resources – Cambridge, MA

We are seeking an HR Director who will be responsible for providing leadership in developing and executing the firm’s talent management strategy and making sure that it is aligned with the firm’s annual business plan and longer-term strategic plan. The talent management strategy encompasses all aspects of attracting, developing, and retaining top talent. The HR Director will serve as a strategic advisor to the firm’s Executive Committee. General Ledger Accounting Manager – Cambridge, MA

We are seeking a General Ledger Accounting Manager for a fast paced, client-oriented accounting department. The General Ledger Manager is responsible for the integrity of the financial statements through review and analysis of the general ledger. This position also includes supervision of 3 staff accountants.

The GL Accounting Manager manages and mentors the GL account team, comprised of two staff accountants, one junior accountant, and one intern, and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated to meet competing deadlines. The GL Accounting Manager is responsible for the integrity and timely publication of monthly financial statements in compliance with GAAP and company policy, including timely and accurate completion of month end close process, review and approval of monthly financial statements, summarizing findings on the monthly reports to senior management, review and approval of monthly general ledger account reconciliation and analysis, and review and approval of labor utilization forecasting and reporting. This individual will maintain and adhere to internal control structure and coordinate and manage external audits, including review and approval of schedules and financial statements. This person will assist in the preparation of the annual budget and provide support to Business Line Managers and Corporate Service Unit Managers as needed. As part of the accounting management team, the GL Account Manager is accountable for implementation of the annual Accounting Business Plan. This person will also assist in implementation of a new accounting system and be responsible for various special projects as required. The GL Accounting Manager interacts with business managers and the firm’s senior management team, requiring strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, and superior customer service skills. The position reports to our Controller and will be responsible for compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 6-8 years experience, CPA preferred. Must possess strong analytical skills, detail orientation, trustworthiness, and must have the ability to work under strict deadlines. Prior supervision experience a plus. Proficiency with spreadsheet applications required, preferably Microsoft Excel. Familiar with Microsoft Word and Lotus Notes. Strong theoretical and practicable knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles is required; knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations and prior involvement with systems implementation are a plus.

IT Business Analyst (Intern) – Cambridge, MA

We are seeking an IT Business Analyst Intern to assist with project work, gather requirements, document processes, and perform other duties as assigned by IT Business Analyst.

Ruby on Rails Software Engineer – Cambridge, MA

We are seeking mid-level software engineers with a solid background in small-team agile web development who can help shape and deliver customer applications based on our open-source rails platform. Senior Travel Demand Modeler and Project Manager – Atlanta, GA

Cambridge Systematics, Inc. is seeking a Senior Travel Demand Modeler and Project Manager to work in our Atlanta office as part of our Travel Demand Forecasting group. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a growing team of transportation professionals to provide project management and analytical support on travel demand forecasting model development and application projects, under both traditional and advanced modeling paradigms.  The role includes responsibility for direction and execution of project tasks in collaboration with other travel demand modelers in a team-oriented environment. Specific responsibilities would include developing model input data and estimating parameters, statistical analysis of travel surveys, conducting validation of travel demand models, executing model runs and evaluating results, preparing technical documentation, researching new modeling techniques, testing software enhancements, managing projects and task orders, and providing ad-hoc agency support. The position also includes some responsibility for business development activities, including proactive lead tracking and proposal development.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in either Urban and Regional Planning or Transportation Engineering; 8-12 years of experience in hands-on development and application of travel demand models; proficiency with Cube, Voyager, TRANPLAN, TP+, and TransCAD software and statistical packages such as SAS and SPSS; strong GIS analysis skills with ArcGIS and/or TransCAD; experience with Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience performing research, working with surveys, and using Census-related data products; and commitment to quality, dedication to objective analysis, and attention to detail. Experience with task/project management is highly desirable as is experience, interest, and contacts in hands-on business development in the Atlanta region. Specific application experience with Atlanta Regional Commission and Georgia DOT models, transit ridership forecasting (including New Starts), and roadway project traffic forecasting is also highly desirable. Familiarity with travel demand models used in Florida and elsewhere in the Southeast U.S. is a plus.

This position is primarily managerial rather than hands-on. We are seeking someone who consistently remains leading-edge in their understanding of tools and technology.

This individual will manage recruiting, hiring, and workload planning so we have qualified staff and skill mix at all levels in order to meet project delivery and R&D requirements. Systems Administrator – Cambridge, MA

We are seeking a Systems Administrator to play a key technical role in IT infrastructure planning, development, maintenance, and management. This individual will work with a well-rounded technical team at all levels on multiple projects and system administration activities to improve processes and to utilize technology as a strategic asset, in a distributed environment. The Systems Administrator is a significant contributor to the development of data management policies and procedures, including data retention, storage, archiving, and efficient retrieval. This role also manages, secures, protects, and optimizes the network infrastructure, both physical and virtual.

This individual will be responsible for managing the Active Directory environment, from design and implementation to maintenance and regular reporting; will develop and recommend technical solutions for enterprise physical and virtual server configurations and functionality; and will collaborate with other IT professionals to develop complex technical solutions. We are seeking someone to develop and maintain corporate server software patching policy and plan and execute regular patch applications to keep all managed servers up to date; provide cost-effective strategic long-range technical solutions for Windows servers, storage arrays, and computer backup systems and will troubleshoot; and provide both Tier-1 and Tier-2 technical support in these areas. The Systems Administrator will also develop, test, and continuously improve upon Cambridge Systematics’ data management strategy and will hold primary responsibility and accountability for our backup/recovery system, data flow, and archiving; utilize experience in disaster recovery planning to create and update Cambridge Systematics’ Disaster Recovery Plan; and configure and manage routers, firewalls, and VPN appliances in all CS locations as necessary to secure and maintain Cambridge Systematics’ network. Additionally, this individual will configure and manage wireless access points in all CS offices; act as lead troubleshooting LAN/WAN, PRI, and POTS line outages; act as liaison with outsourced service providers (such as AT&T); and perform phone system administration.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or IT-related field; Understanding of LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, and network traffic routing; 5+ years of technical experience managing servers; 5+ years responsibility for key aspects of data management, including backup/restore software and enterprise strategies for efficient storage, deduplication, and data movement; current Active Directory skills; Microsoft MCSE/MCITP (2008/2012) certification; experience working in virtualized environments, such as VMware and Data Center operations; ability to effectively configure and optimize physical environment, including racking and cabling equipment; project management expertise and knowledge of how to apply project management techniques to technical projects; excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate well with peers; and experience with CommVault and Citrix a significant plus.

Traffic Analyst/Modeler – New York City, NY

We are seeking a Traffic Analyst/Modeler in our New York City office for our Transportation Operations business line to provide engineering and analytical support to clients focusing in the areas of Traffic Operations, Traffic Impact Studies, Freeway Operations, Capacity Analysis, and Arterial Operations. Responsibilities include development and implementation of data collection and analysis efforts; implementation and use of simulation models; postprocessing of simulation results, analysis of the impacts and benefits of transportation investments; Federal and state research to improve operational performance of the transportation system; and preparation of technical reports and presentations.

Qualifications: BSCE with at least 1-5 years of consulting experience in traffic simulation operations and transportation engineering or Master’s degree or higher in Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Operations Research with 1-5 years of consulting experience in the areas listed above; must have proven background in traffic analysis and modeling, including traffic simulation and travel demand modeling; must possess strong oral and written communication skills, proven strong analytical and quantitative skills, excellent client skills, ability to work well as part of a team, demonstrated experience with TransModeler/TransCAD, Synchro, and VISUM/VISSIM; and experience with Aimsun, Paramics, and computer programming a plus.

Travel Demand Modeler – Bethesda, MD

We are seeking a Travel Demand Modeler to work in our Travel Demand Forecasting (TDF) group in our Bethesda, Maryland (Metropolitan Washington, D.C.) office.
