She will significantly enhance our client service efforts at the national level and in the Midwest."
Based in Topeka and affiliated with our Chicago, Illinois office, Ms. Miller will provide guidance and strategic advice to leaders in state departments of transportation and metropolitan planning organizations on a range of topics including performance management, funding, and long-range transportation system investment planning. Ms. Miller became the first woman to head KDOT in 2003 and also is the longest-serving Kansas Secretary of Transportation. Under her leadership Kansas passed the landmark $8 billion, 10-year transportation program, T-WORKS, a comprehensive piece of legislation that will create tens of thousands of jobs throughout Kansas by fully funding highway preservation, strategically funding capacity improvements, continuing the focus on safety improvements, and increasing investment in aviation, rail, and public transportation. A hallmark of Ms. Miller’s tenure at KDOT was her commitment to open communications and transparency. Her focus on public engagement was key in ultimately convincing legislators and citizens of the benefits of well-planned transportation investment programs and the economic dividends they create.
