Laurie L. Hussey, Principal and leader of Cambridge Systematics’ transit practice, has more than 20 years of experience in transit planning and project development. She is an expert in Federal processes for planning and developing major transit capital projects. Ms. Hussey has been supporting the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) New and Small Starts program since 1997, providing technical guidance on the calculation and reporting of project justification criteria, transit-supportive land use and financial assessments of New Starts projects, and technical assistance to New Start project sponsors. Major projects for local transit agencies include the Silver Line Phase II in Boston and Tren Urbano in San Juan, Puerto, projects that have received Full Funding Grant Agreements from the FTA and are now in operation. Ms. Hussey also supports several clients who are seeking to advance fixed guideway alternatives into the New or Small Starts pipeline, including projects in Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Madison, and the Kenosha-Racine-Milwaukee corridor in Wisconsin.
Additionally, we are pleased to announce that our transit leadership team has expanded to include Larry S. Englisher, who recently joined Cambridge Systematics as a Senior Associate in our Cambridge, Massachusetts office. Mr. Englisher brings more than 30 years of experience in transit planning consulting to our nationwide transit team. He is an expert in the areas of urban and suburban bus service planning and evaluation; systemwide restructuring; feasibility and major investment studies of rail and bus rapid transit; consumer research surveys; research on transit service reliability and operator performance; fixed route and paratransit services; and evaluation of many innovative/advanced transit services and customer information improvements. Prior to joining Cambridge Systematics, he was a Vice President with TranSystems.
